Magical World

Wouldn't it be lovely if, with just a twitch of the nose, life, or any aspect of it could be changed. Instead, positive changes always seem to involve tremendously hard work, determination, and endless setbacks. How lovely it would be to have the powers of Samantha Stephens.

Sorry

My apologies for yesterday's "sacreligious" post. Normally I would reply with the "IT'S MY BLOG!!" mantra, but today I just don't care. Three closed-minded, uninformed individuals have made known to me that:
1. No matter what happened in my life, I have no right to put it on the level of what Christ suffered (which was never my intention, but I bow to the masses).
2. I'm simply one of those individuals who complains a lot and never does anything to move forward or let go of the past. Apparently, it's not as difficult as I make it seem.
3. I'm just a number in society. Many people are abused. Many people are gay. I'm just the only one who whines about it.
4. I have nothing to be upset about when people make comments like this. After all, I'm airing my dirty laundry in public.
5. At least one of this number believes I've made everything up, because stuff like this never really happens (which sort of negates what was said in number 3, but there it is). However, this particular anonymous commentor also believes I'm a great storyteller, and spent nearly 2 hours reading my blog to his/her hearts content, and returned a few times during the next couple of days. How could I avoid feeling flattered after receiving that kind of attention?

So the post has been removed. Come to think of it, many posts have now been removed. Disappearance seems like a prudent option.

You could always block anonymous posters; and who cares what one idiot thinks? There are people out there who still believe that the world is flat, and that the moon landings were a hoax.

Don't knee jerk, Sam. I never thought that you were comparing yourself to Christ. There are a lot of us that love you, and sadly, there are some detractors.

If it means anything, I thought it was a lovely post. I don't think you should have to delete it for a bunch of close-minded pharisical zealots who would rather be critical than sympathetic.

But that's just my opinion. It's probably not worth much.

If i had a nickel for every stupid assed idiot I met and had to endure their stupid opinions - well lets just say I would be a few thousand dollars richer.

However there are many more people, like yourself, that I find true and intelligent.

So I will give you my nickel. Since it is you that has to endure me. :)

from someone who cares. ps. send regards to my friend. and that we have a reunion in march. I think Darrin can watch his ward for a ward for a weekend. :-)

Personally, I think you should have left your blog entry and the associated comments - and let everyone judge for themselves if the comments were appropriate or not. I expect most people reading it would have passed judgment on the commenters and not on you. But, it is your blog and you can do with it whatever you please.

I left the post open to comment later, and just now my brilliant comment was nearly sucked into the Internet abyss. But I salvaged it, and here it is:

While I think all adversity can be for our good in an overlying philosophical sense, I think a lot of it is superfluous and tragic. It's because people suck, not because God is trying to bless us with trials.

I've had a hard time knowing how to give it up to Christ too. I don't have much insight into the topic. Maybe it's like when I was in med school and I was asking a friend how he had been so good at remembering all the millions of little details we were supposed to be learning. "I dunno. I just f---ing remember!"

    Well said.

Yeah, I also vote for blocking anonymous posts.

And that's ridiculous. You're certainly not a whiner. Anyone who claims to believe that what happened to you couldn't *really* have happened is either delusional or a liar.

Ditto. I want to read it too, now that it's...lost...in...cyberspace.

    (I almost wrote "cyberchase.")

Ha! I laughed reading this because anyone who could post comments like that after actually READING your blog is...well, laughable. Or laugh-at-able?

I took an incredible class, in college, about the Holocaust, and the professor told us that she didn't care what grades we got - that if we only learned ONE thing in her class she wanted us to understand that one person can make a difference. And I swear, it didn't even sound REMOTELY cheesy when she said it - which shows what an amazing professor she was. Anyway, I guess I feel like that comment applies to you and your blog.
